Bus crash kills 14 children in Azad Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD (June 10) : At least 14 children were killed and three others wounded when the bus taking them to school plunged into a canal in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday, an official said. Assistant Commissioner Bhimber Ali Asghar said the accident took place in Head Ali Baig town of AJK.

"So far we have found the bodies of 13 children from the canal while one child succumbed to injuries on way to hospital," he said.

He said the bus driver had been speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, which had more than 20 people on board.

"The bus had picked up children, all below the age of 15, from Ali Baig town to drop them at different schools in Mirpur," he said, adding that three of the children had been admitted to hospital.

Rescue parties were still searching for missing children and the driver.
