MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan and China are trapped in a deadlock over the construction of the 1,100 megawatts (MW) Kohala Hydropower Project on the Jhelum River in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) due to Wapda’s intransigence.The contract was awarded to a Chinese construction company, China International Water and Electric Corporation (CWE).
Prime Minister AJK Sardar Ateeq Ahmed Khan made a statement yesterday that United states of America is also a party to the Kashmir Issue (quoted by daily times). He makes no sense though but he says that America becomes a party to Kashmir Issue after Obama's recent visit to India in November.
Either Sardar Ateeq is trying to please America and Obama or he has lost his senses. Kashmir issue couldn't be resolved in two parties in last 63 years, how will you manage to handle this issue with the making other countries a party to Issue?
There were rumors from past few months about the Ex-Prime Minister AJK Barrister Sultan Mehmood that he was expected to re-join his original party Pakistan people Party. These rumors got some authenticity when Barrister met Prime Minister Pakistan at PM House Islamabad a day back. It is reported that crucial matters were settled in that meeting regarding the future status of Barrister Sultan in Pakistan Peoples Party. He is highly likely now that He is going to announce his inclusion in PPP with in a Month. He is currently heading own party Peoples Muslim league which he formed before 2006 elections after being disappointed by the policies of PPP.
Chairman Neelum-Jehlum hydropower prjoect ,Sardar Altaf that a 120 meters long RCC bridge will be constructed soon on River Neelum at Noseri Muzaffarabd with a cost of about 500 million rupees. He said this while talking to media here at Muzaffarabad. He further told that this project has been initiated due to the personal interest and efforts of Chief executive officer General Zubair. Accomplishment of this project will be a great gift to the people of the region.
People all over the world has been seen participating in and using social networking websites, expanding their contacts, sharing their opinion and feelings, befriending new people, apart from the most important purpose of education and knowledge but people of AJK are seen as lacking quite behind in this regard. Only those people, who get a chance to go to some foreign country for study or Job purpose are found on facebook, orkut etc but very few of current residents are their actually. Reason are perhaps pathetic facility of internet service which is not even accessible by majority of people and their high charges. Government must encourage the internet service providers to improve and expand their services and to urge new companies like Wateen, W-tribe and other internet providers to start their services in the region. Irony is that even the students don't have much know-how about the internet use and i wonder how will they go along the pace of rest of the world if they don't even use internet for educational purposes. Government is supposed to take some steps in this regard.
Member national assembly Pakistan from PML(Q), Marvi Memon says that it's not possible to form an autonomous government in Kashmir in presence of Ministry of Kashmir affairs of Pakistan.She was addressing to "meet the press" in central press club Muzaffarabad yesterday. She said that nothing good can be expected from current government of Pakistan regarding Kashmir issue, which has adopted complete silence over Kashmir on the directions of America and western powers. She further added that Wikileaks exposed the true face of these corrupt Pakistani rulers.
RAW, a notorious Indian intelligence agency, is likely to launch a fake group of militants namely “Kashmiri Taliban’' to malign the Kashmiris’ peaceful struggle for their right to self-determination, cause commotion in Azad J&K(AJK) and to give a new dimension to its orchestrated propaganda against Pakistan as being a state which harbours terrorism.
According to a report the preparatory work in this regard has been completed in all respects and the group will be launched under the guidance of Indian National Security Advisor’s office.
The group will be tasked first to launch a few mock attacks inside India to establish its credibility and then carry out a series of devastating attacks inside Azad Kashmir and even in Pakistan in the name of Islamic Army of Kashmiri Taliban (IAKT) on the pattern of banned so-called Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan India will then seek support of the United States and other Western countries under the pretext that Kashmiris, Pakistanis and Afghan Taliban are chips of the same block and they need to be crushed simultaneously.
43rd death anniversary of Raees-ul-ahraar Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas will be observed on 18th of December in AJK. Poonch with reverence. Thousands of people from all over AJK are expected to attend the congregation at Abbaspur where Prime Minister Sardar Ateeq ahmed and other ministers of AJK will be paying tribute to his contribution to freedom struggle. Minister for forests, Sardar Qayyum niazi called a meeting to discuss the arrangements of this gathering in Abbaspur.
Member Kashmir Council, Sardar Farooq Sikander says that Decision regarding the formation of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) in AJK has been finalized and will be announced with in couple of days after Ashura by Mian Nawaz Sharif. He was addressing a gathering in Rawalakot. He added that according to AJK act-47, Kashmir council elections cannot be delayed. He further added that PML(N) will form a coalition with Jammu Kashmir People's Party(JKPP), Jammat-e-Islami and other parties.
2 children died instantly due to intense suffocation in Kalali village near Haveli, Forward Kahuta, when a house caught fire due to electricity short-circuit. Age of aqeel ahmed farooqi was 4year while the other one was of less than 2 years. A large quantity of house-hold material was also burnt down by fire along with two pet cows. Father of these two children is Shakeel ahmed Farooqi. 3 days ago, his father, Akbar Farooqi also died in a heart attack. We express our deep sorrows to the affectees.
Incidents of murders and other crimes are increasing in Azad Kashmir. In the past few months, many incidents of murders have been reported from different areas of AJK. Recently, a mother and her son has been brutally murdered in Khuiratta, Kotli, who were burried yesterday in the presence of thousands of sympathizers.
Moreover, a protest demonstration was conducted against the murder of Shabbir in Mirpur, who was a government employee and was killed 3 months ago but no murderer has been arrested so far.These incidents are alarming for the General public and Azad Kashmir seems to be a law-less area these days. Security forces and Judiciary has to tighten the ropes and to take strict measures in order to stop such incidents in the future.
In a meeting of Azad Kashmir Cabinet yesterday, Information minister Mehmood Riaz said that there was a possibility that AJK elections could be delayed till October due to the climatic hurdles. He added that it was quite difficult to conduct elections in winter and political parties wouldn't be able to run their election campaigns effectively. Decision about the delaying of election would be taken by taking all the political parties into confidence. He further added that Muslim conference wanted elections to be held on time but they weren't in any hurry though.
